Tattoo Aftercare

  • Leave your tattoo bandaged for 1-4 hours (unless instructed otherwise).

  • With freshly washed hands, remove your bandage, and wash your tattoo with warm water and unscented soap. Do not use anything abrasive to cleanse your tattoo such as a wash cloth or loofah.

  • Once your tattoo is completely clean of ointment, excess ink, and bodily fluid, you may pat your tattoo dry with a clean single-use paper towel or allow it to air dry.

  • Moisturize your tattoo multiple times a day with a light layer of unscented lotion. We recommend products such as Lubriderm, Cetaphil or CeraVe. Other mild lotions may also be used as long as they are fragrance-free. Do not oversaturate, you want to treat it as dry skin and rub your moisturizer in entirely. Avoid products such as cocoa butter, coconut oil, lanolin, vaseline, and antibiotic ointments.

  • ‘Scabs’ will start to form after a few days to a week and may take 1-2 weeks to fall off. These should be light/thin and flaky like dry skin. Do not pick, scratch or soak your tattoo. Your tattoo will be itchy due to the scabbing, but picking, scratching and/or soaking can effect how your tattoo heals. Let them fall off naturally for optimal results.

  • Be sure to avoid direct sun exposure while your tattoo heals (this also applies to tanning beds).

  • Please do not go swimming with a fresh/healing tattoo!

  • You can expect your tattoo to be fully healed in about 4 weeks but healing time can vary from person to person.

  • Please contact your tattooer if you have any questions or concerns. Happy healing!
